He responded to the call to serve in the Army for four years and dedicated two decades to city government. Motivated by a desire for diverse experiences, Stokes shifted to the private sector for ten years before making a move to Atlanta, Georgia.

Beyond his geographical journey, Stokes has gained recognition as an award-winning playwright and poet. His creative journey includes academic exploration at the University in Germany, showcasing his commitment to intellectual growth. Returning to his roots, he continued his studies through community college and adult continuing education.

Throughout his diverse pursuits, Stokes maintains a profound connection to his origins, always cherishing Baltimore as his Home. His life’s narrative intertwines military service, artistic achievements, and an ongoing quest for knowledge.

He later retired to pursue writing.
